Letter from the Editor

Dear Reader,

Everything has changed. Today’s bombing of Olympic Stadium will likely go down as the worst terrorist attack in world history.

Many of us lost friends, friends of friends — family.

As you may know, the entire senior staff of the Broadside was in attendance at the closing ceremonies. I can only assume, at this point, they are dead.

(“Dead”: that word smacks of indifference, but there’s no other way to say it — Passed? Lost? I am trying to be specific.)

Myself (an editorial intern until today) and the few remaining junior staff members have agreed to take responsibility for the continuation of this publication. We feel there has never been a more important time for the Broadside to exist — independent, curious, restless, obsessive. We will devote all our energy over the coming weeks to uncovering the truth behind these attacks (if attacks are truly what they were: anything at this point is speculation).

On behalf of the Broadside, I hope you and your family are safe and well. If not, I am sorry.

This will pass. Answers will come.

Until tomorrow,

The Intern Editor
